Information om grundförstärkningen av Södermanlands-Nerikes nations nationshus 2025-2026

I oktober 1897 stod Södermanlands-Nerikes nations rosa slott klart. Sedan dess har nationshuset varit ett hem för generationer av studenter vid den bästa av nationer men den 1 oktober 2025, på månaden 128 år senare, kommer nationshuset att för en stund behöva stänga sina dörrar.
Vad ska göras?
Nationshuset ska genomgå en grundförstärkning, vilket innebär att långa pålar kommer att borras ner under huset. Detta görs för att nationshuset inte ska fortsätta att glida ner mot Fyrisån och för att nationshuset ska fortsätta att kunna vara ett hem för studenter i minst 128 år till.
I samband med grundförstärkningen kommer nationshuset att genomgå en större invändig renovering. Vi är mycket glada för att vid återöppnandet kunna visa upp en alldeles ny bistro på nedervåningen.
Vad händer med nationens verksamhet?
Från terminsstart tills den 1 oktober kommer nationens verksamhet se ut precis som den brukar göra. Att nationshuset sedan stänger betyder inte att någon del av nationens verksamhet läggs ner under tiden för projektet. Nationen är mycket glada över att tillsammans med Göteborgs nation fortsätta erbjuda uppsalastudenter klubb på tisdagar. Den övriga verksamheten kommer att fortsätta i liknande utformning som den gör idag men istället i Brundisium, det grå huset som ligger i korsningen på S:t Larsgatan och S:t Olofsgatan – mitt emellan nationshuset och Smålands nation. Där kommer du fortsätta att kunna njuta av maten från bistron, bruncher och luncher. Nationens bibliotek i Stavenowska huset, med studieplatser och utlåning, är också öppet precis som vanligt.
Utan nationshus har vi heller ingen festsal. Nationens traditionsenliga gasquer och baler kommer däremot att genomföras på samma sätt som tidigare – men i andra lokaler i Uppsala.
För att fira av huset innan det stänger bjuder nationen in till ett ordentligt firande för våra medlemmar. Den 26-27 september anordnar nationen Pålningsfestival. Under två dagar förvandlas nationen till ett festivalområde med flertalet liveakter och hejdundrande fest!
När öppnar nationshuset igen?
Den stora frågan är såklart – hur lång tid kommer projektet att ta? Nationshuset kommer att hålla stängt från början av oktober och året ut samt delar av vårterminen. Ambitionen är att öppna upp till Valborg 2026 men exakta datum kommer i ett senare skede när projektet väl är igång. Förhoppningen är att inte en hel termin, varken höstterminen 2025 eller vårterminen 2026 ska helt påverkas av grundförstärkningen.

Information about the foundation reinforcement of Södermanlands-Nerikes Nation’s nation house 2025-2026
In October 1897, the pink castle of the Södermanlands-Nerikes Nation was completed. Since then, the nation house has been home to generations of students at the best of nations, but on 1 October 2025, 128 years later, the nation house will have to close its doors for a while.
What needs to be done?
The nation house will undergo foundation reinforcement, which means that long piles will be drilled down under the house. This is being done to prevent the nation house from continuing to slide down towards the Fyris River and to ensure that the nation house can continue to be a home for students for at least another 128 years.
In conjunction with the foundation reinforcement, the Nation House will undergo a major interior renovation. We are very pleased to be able to show off a brand new bistro on the ground floor when we reopen.
What will happen to the nation’s activities?
From the start of the semester until 1 October, the nation’s activities will continue as usual. The fact that the nation house will be closed does not mean that any part of the nation’s activities will be discontinued during the project. The nation is very pleased to continue offering Uppsala students a club on Tuesdays in collaboration with the Göteborgs nation. The rest of the activities will continue in a similar format to today, but instead in Brundisium, the grey building located at the intersection of S:t Larsgatan and S:t Olofsgatan – halfway between the nation house and Smålands nation. There, you will continue to be able to enjoy food from the bistro, brunches and lunches. The nation’s library in the Stavenowska building, with study areas and lending services, will also be open as usual.
Without the nation house, we also have no banquet hall. However, the nation’s traditional gasques and balls will be held in the same way as before – but in other venues in Uppsala.
To celebrate the house before it closes, the nation is inviting its members to a proper celebration. On 26-27 September, the nation is organising the Pålningsfestival. For two days, the nation will be transformed into a festival area with several live acts and a spectacular party!
When will the nation house reopen?
The big question is, of course, how long will the project take? The nation house will be closed from the beginning of October until the end of the year and for part of the spring semester. The ambition is to reopen by Valborg 2026, but the exact date will be announced at a later stage once the project is underway. The hope is that neither the autumn semester of 2025 nor the spring semester of 2026 will be completely affected by the foundation reinforcement.
